Description
The Smart City Kit takes the infrastructure students walk past every day — traffic lights, irrigation, drainage, bin collection — and lets them build small working versions of it. Each project starts with a real urban problem and ends with something on the desk that responds to its surroundings.
What's included:
- IoT:bit Wi-Fi expansion board for the micro:bit
- Red, yellow and green LEDs for traffic and signalling projects
- DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor
- sonar:bit ultrasonic sensor, soil moisture sensor and water level sensor
- OLED screen and an EF92A 180° servo
- micro USB cable and jumper wires
- micro:bit board is not included — add a micro:bit V2 at checkout

- Turning a civic problem into something a program can actually solve
- Using sensor thresholds to trigger a response automatically
- Block coding in MakeCode, with the option to send readings to a cloud dashboard
- Explaining a design decision, not just getting the code to run
Twelve self-paced lessons in Sammat's Online Academy cover subway flood prevention, automatic irrigation, a smart bin, push-button crossings and library noise monitoring — a sequence of lessons rather than a single activity. Access is sold as an add-on to the kit, and is included in the classroom pack.
