TTS Rugged Robot Range

The TTS Rugged Robot is a programmable floor robot built to be used outside — on grass, dirt and sand, not just on a mat indoors. This collection brings together the robot itself and every accessory that goes with it, so you can start with one and build up to a whole-class set.

What's in the range:

• TTS Rugged Robot — the robot on its own, with onboard buttons and Bluetooth control from a tablet
• Rugged Robot Class Kit — four robots, four TacTile Readers, mats, tiles and the activity book in one order
• TacTile Readers and tile packs — screen-free coding, where students lay out command tiles and press go
• Activity mats — Lunar, Coral Reef and Construction Site, for cross-curricular challenges indoors
• Rugged Robot Activity Book — photocopiable lessons written by a computer science teacher

How it works in class: students program up to 256 steps, choose one of three speeds, and switch the obstacle sensor on or off as they grow more confident. They can code straight from the buttons on the robot, from a TacTile Reader, or from a tablet over Bluetooth — so the same robot stretches from early years through upper primary.

What students practise: directional language, sequencing, algorithms, debugging and logical reasoning — the foundations of Digital Technologies in the Australian Curriculum.

Other TTS floor robots: the Loti-Bot adds programmable lights, sounds and a drawing pen for upper primary, and the Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot are the classic indoor floor robots for early years.
