Description
UltiMaker PLA is the everyday material for S series printers: easy to print, dimensionally stable, and forgiving enough that a student's first few attempts still come out usable. It is the right default for most classroom and studio work, and the cheapest way to get through a lot of iterations.
Specifications:
- 750g spool
- 2.85mm diameter - for UltiMaker S series printers
- Ten colours: black, white, pearl white, silver metallic, transparent, blue, magenta, orange, red and yellow
- Print profiles built into UltiMaker Cura, so no manual tuning is needed
Check your printer takes 2.85mm. UltiMaker S series printers use 2.85mm filament. Most other desktop printers, including FlashForge and the MakerBot SKETCH range, take 1.75mm and this spool will not fit them.
When to use PLA rather than something else:
- PLA for prototypes, models and general student work - the default choice
- Tough PLA when a part needs to survive being handled or dropped
- PETG for better heat and moisture resistance
- ABS or Nylon for functional engineering parts, with the ventilation to match
