micro:bit Tinker Kit — ElecFreaks Octopus $88.00 ex GST ($96.80 inc GST)
The Tinker Kit solves the problem that stops most classroom electronics lessons: messy breadboard wiring. Every module plugs into the Octopus:bit board with a keyed connector, so a class spends the lesson coding rather than hunting for a loose wire. What's included: Octopus:bit breakout board with a micro:bit edge connector OLED display, PIR motion sensor and soil moisture sensor ADKeypad, crash sensor and buzzer module Three LED modules, a potentiometer and a servo motor Crystal battery box (2 x AAA), micro USB cable and nine connection cables Full colour printed guide covering five projects, with more online micro:bit board is not included — add a micro:bit V2 at checkout What students practise: Choosing the right sensor for a problem from a box with several options Reading a value, setting a threshold and triggering an output Block coding in MakeCode, with officially certified extension packages Debugging behaviour rather than debugging wiring The Octopus:bit switches voltage level on some GPIO ports, so 5V sensors work alongside 3V ones. More than thirty documented projects on the ElecFreaks wiki cover a music machine, a plant monitor, a fish feeder, a lie detector and a maze game. Developed with Tinkercademy in Singapore, and used in classrooms in a number of countries.
