The Finch Robot 2.0 takes coding off the screen and into the real world. This durable, ready-to-go classroom robot drives, senses and draws, giving students an engaging way to see their code come to life. Powered by the BBC micro:bit, it grows with learners from their first block-based programs right through to text-based languages like Python and Java.
Finch Robot 2.0 features:
- Rechargeable built-in battery (7+ hours) and Bluetooth wireless connection
- 5 × tri-colour LEDs and a multi-tonal buzzer
- Light, distance and line-tracking sensors, plus wheel encoders for precise movement
- A central marker holder for drawing, and a writable surface for whiteboard markers
- Compatible with plastic building bricks for adding your own creations
What students practise:
- Sequencing, loops and logic through hands-on coding
- Programming across icon-, block- and text-based languages, from FinchBlox to Python and Java
- Using sensors and movement to solve mazes, draw shapes and complete challenges
The Finch works from the first years of primary school through to senior secondary, so one robot supports coding across year levels. Free, classroom-tested lessons and online teacher professional learning are included. A BBC micro:bit is required as the robot's processor — choose the option with a micro:bit, or supply your own. A USB-C charging cable is included.
