If you're heading to EduTECH 2026, we'd love to see you at Stand #1030. Sammat Education is proud to be presenting alongside Sphero this year, with free hands-on sessions for both primary and secondary educators running throughout the day. Whether you're new to robotics or ready to take your STEM programme to the next level, we've got something for you.

Each session runs for just 20 minutes and no pre-booking is required. Simply come along and experience first-hand how Sphero's range of tools can support meaningful, curriculum-aligned STEM learning in your classroom.

For Primary School Teachers — Start Young, Think Big

Sessions: 10am | 12pm | 2pm daily | With Peter Abt, Educator & Sphero Hero

Peter Abt brings more than 25 years of primary education experience and is one of the original Sphero Heroes. As Technology Specialist at Tewantin State School on the Sunshine Coast, Peter will take you through a practical look at three key Sphero tools for the primary classroom:

  • Feature 1 — Sphero indi: A self-driving robot that uses colour sensing to navigate, making it ideal for early primary students. No screen required to get started. Indi introduces coding concepts in a tactile, play-based way that builds intuitive understanding of computational thinking — perfect for Foundation to Year 2.

  • Feature 2 — Blueprint Snap: A hands-on engineering and building kit that encourages design thinking, creativity and problem-solving. Students construct, build and then code their creations, connecting the technology and engineering strands of STEM in a meaningful way that upper primary students love.

  • Feature 3 — Sphero BOLT+: A versatile programmable robot with an LED matrix and sensors that supports a wide range of coding experiences. BOLT+ grows with your students, making it suitable across all primary year levels and deeply aligned to the Digital Technologies curriculum.

  • Feature 4 — Curriculum-Aligned Activities: Every activity Peter shares is designed to be immediately usable in your classroom. You'll leave with practical ideas aligned to the Australian Curriculum that build student confidence, creativity and computational thinking across a range of year levels.

  • Feature 5 — Classroom-Ready Confidence: Peter's sessions are built around real classroom experience. You won't hear theory — you'll see practical, teacher-tested strategies that are ready to implement. Peter will share ideas you can take straight back to school and use with your class the following week.

For High School Teachers — Code. Create. Engineer.

Sessions: 11am | 1pm | 3pm daily | With Matthew Gillard, Digital Learning Coach & STEM Specialist

Matthew Gillard is a Digital Learning Coach and Science and Technology Specialist Teacher at William Clarke College, Kellyville, NSW, and the Founder of Sammat Education. With 17 years of experience developing teachers' capacity to integrate digital and STEM technologies into their curriculum, Matthew will showcase three advanced Sphero tools for secondary classrooms:

  • Feature 1 — Sphero BOLT+: Supporting Python, JavaScript and Scratch, BOLT+ is a powerful tool for secondary STEM. Students explore data from its integrated sensors, programme complex movements and engage with AI concepts through a tangible, engaging platform that connects to senior Digital Technologies outcomes.

  • Feature 2 — Sphero RVR+: A fully programmable, expandable robot that integrates with Raspberry Pi and Arduino, making it the ideal platform for advanced secondary coding and engineering projects. RVR+ supports authentic, project-based STEM learning that challenges and engages secondary students.

  • Feature 3 — Blueprint Engineering: A rigorous engineering and design platform that challenges secondary students to design, build, programme and test real mechanical systems. Blueprint Engineering connects design thinking, mathematics, physics and digital technologies in one cohesive experience.

  • Feature 4 — AI and Robotics in the Curriculum: Matthew shares practical strategies for incorporating AI concepts and advanced robotics into your existing secondary curriculum, without needing to start from scratch. Real, classroom-tested approaches that work within the Australian Curriculum framework.

  • Feature 5 — What's Next for Robotics in Education: Matthew will also preview what's coming next in the robotics education space, giving secondary teachers a forward-looking perspective that helps them plan and future-proof their STEM programmes.
