With so many new and fast-changing technologies appearing on the market every day, it’s more important than ever to be prepared to face the future and embrace the opportunities the digital age offers.
Students today are so immersed in technology that it's no longer necessary to carry around a personal computer and mobile phone to access information. They are equipped with devices that can access the Internet for them anytime, anywhere.
As more of society is becoming technologically adept, schools need to change their pedagogical methods to ensure their students learn the skills and strategies needed for them to survive and thrive in the digital age. In order to do this, educators need to use technology in a way that is both engaging and effective.
The Innovative Technology across the Curriculum Professional Learning workshop aims to explain emerging technologies such as augmented reality, robotics and coding in the classroom, understand its role, and suggest some practical and pedagogical considerations for teachers getting started with these technologies.
This workshop is running over 2 afternoon sessions - 2nd & 3rd November and places will be limited.
During this workshop, participants will:
- understand the notion of innovative technologies
- explore augmented reality applications that can be integrated into the curriculum
- engage in coding activities that link to a range of curriculum areas
- explore how robotics can be used to used authentically in the classroom
- map innovative technologies experiences across the curriculum through authentic integration.

Completing the workshop will contribute 4 hours of Professional Learning addressing 1.2.2, 1.5.2, 2.1.2, 2.5.2, 2.6.2, 3.2.2, 3.3.2, 3.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation.
